What’s on

The Club has a very active social calendar, open to all members and their guests. Friday night is very popular with lots on offer, including the lucky member draw, a meat and wine raffle, light meals and snacks, music and a happy hour from 5.30 to 6.30 when drinks are even cheaper than normal. Bowl, play snooker or just enjoy the atmosphere. Special events are held throughout  the year.

Australia Day, January 26 – Come and join us for a game of social bowls followed by a barbecue. Put your name down on the sheet on the club noticeboard.

Tuesday, February 14 – The club is hosting one of its popular quiz nights on Tuesday, February 14. Get your table of eight together or we can help you form one. It’s $10 a head and thinking caps on from 7pm. There’s great prizes to be won and lots of fun to be had. Tickets at the bar or see Pandora Court.

Jack Attack volunteers – Following on from the very successful Barefoot Buddies program, the club is hosting another event to get the whole community involved. Jack Attack is a fun and fast-paced format designed to get all ages groups interested in bowls. It will be run over four weeks – February 21 and 28 and March 14 and 21 – from 6pm every Tuesday night. We will need plenty of volunteers so either let Susan, Dot or Otto know, contact Susan on 0415 911 676 or email membership@mtpbc.org.au. Thank you.

Saturday, March 25 – Dance the night away with The Smash Monkeys.

Congratulations to the winners in our Giant Christmas Raffle, which was drawn at the club on Friday, December 9. First prize went to Beryl Smith and Ray Toey claimed the second prize. The raffle was a great success, raising more than $1000 for the club. Thanks to everyone who donated cash or items for the prizes and to those who sold all the tickets. Well done!

This competition is a great way for all members of the club to improve their bowls in a fun and social setting. The start time has now switched to 4pm to beat the summer heat. Be there by 3.30pm.

This new program has been a great success, with between 30 and 50 people taking part in each of the six weeks and a great write-up in the Fremantle Herald. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out on the green and in the kitchen. To read the story about our club in the Fremantle Herald, click here

Well done to social member Jamie Coghlan who beat another social member, Tom Love, 2/1 in an enthralling snooker final at the club on Wednesday, November 16. Both are very good players and brought out the best in each other, which was much appreciated by those who attended. In the plate final, Bill Green overcame David Nicholson 2/1 in another top match. This was not a handicap event but a Handicap Singles Championship is planned for late January.

The club hosted another fantastic Melbourne Cup lunch on Tuesday, November 1, with those in attendance enjoying a delicious meal, having a bet, raffles and various other activities.

The ladies held another very successful fashion parade on Monday, October 3, with about 100 people attending. A special thank you to Pandora, who organised the event, and to everyone who set up the tables, helped make the afternoon tea and to all the lovely models. The parade raised $1500.

Thanks to everyone who attended the club on Wednesday, August 3, to take part in the lamb tasting sessions. You helped raise $1000 for the club. Well done!

And to everyone who helped out at the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle on Sunday, September 18. The club raised more than $1800.
