The Club has an active social calendar, open to all members and their guests. Friday night is popular with lots on offer, including the lucky member draw, raffles, meals, music and an extended happy hour from 5-6.30pm. Bowl, play snooker or just enjoy the atmosphere. Special events are held throughout the year.

Events

Barefoot bowls – Volunteers are needed to help run the very successful barefoot bowls events, which are a great moneyspinner for the club. Only two volunteers will be required for each event, and they will be asked to set up the rinks and provide just 30 minutes of training and assistance before being free to go. Please let secretary Susan Allen know if you can help out.

Quiz night – The club is hosting one of its popular quiz nights on Tuesday, October 27. Register at the bar to book your table of eight, then pay $10 per head on the night. The bar will be open but it’s BYO nibblies and brain cells. The fun starts at 7pm.

Melbourne Cup – Everyone is invited to join in the fun of the Melbourne Cup at the club on Tuesday, November 3. There will be sweeps, a bookie and prizes for the best dressed. For $45 a head, guests will enjoy a two-course lunch, a drink voucher and a $3 mystery bet voucher. Book at the bar by Friday, October 30. There will be an optional bowls challenge after lunch for $10 a head.

Fashion parade – The club held a fantastic, sell-out ladies’ fashion parade recently presented by the Kindred Spirit boutique and gift shop. Thanks to all who contributed to such a successful afternoon.

Club member of the year – Congratulations to the hard-working David Nicholson, whose tireless efforts around the club have seen him awarded with the latest Club member of the year award.

New life member – Congratulations to Dot Melkus, who was named the club’s latest life member at our recent Annual General Meeting on Saturday, August 29. Dot has been a member of Mt Pleasant for more than 20 years and has been a tireless volunteer – particularly in her role as treasurer – always helping out where needed.

Friday night food – Enjoy a delicious meal at the club every Friday night, with a great selection of food from Bridget’s menu and kids’ meals for just $12. Kids also receive a free ice-cream. Happy hour starts after 5pm and there’s Chase the Ace, raffles and the lucky member’s draw.
