Club Events

Tuesday popstick draws happen all year round every Tuesday, 12.30pm for a 1pm start.

Thursday and Saturday bankers are played all year round on Thursdays and Saturdays, 12.30pm for a 1pm start.

Winter bowls are played at the end of the pennant season.

Thursday nominated triples start on March 17 and feature great cash prizes. Teams can be all male, all female or mixed and it’s  12.30pm for a 1pm start. Put your name down on the sheet at the club by Wednesday. Click here for more details.

Saturdays three-bowl nominated pairs start on April 2. Grab yourself a friend, nominate by Friday and you could win cash prizes. It’s 12.30pm for a 1pm start. Click here for more details.

Dress:  Mufti for all popstick, bankers and winter games.  Club uniform for pennant and championship games.

Wednesday scroungers

The scroungers competition each Wednesday afternoon is proving a fun and popular way to improve your bowls. The start time has now reverted to 3pm for a 3.30pm start.

Men’s Pennants

Mt Pleasant has a number of teams playing men’s pennant bowls during the season – both Midweek (Thursdays) and Saturdays.

Ladies’ Pennants

The ladies have two Tuesday morning pennant teams and one Saturday afternoon team. Pennants are played from October through to March then members take part in the winter competitions outlined above.

Club awards night

Members of the club had a lovely dinner on Saturday night, May 7, where all the winning performances of the 2021-22 season were celebrated. A warm congratulations to our ladies’ bowls winner, Anne Banks, and our men’s bowls winner, Terry Norrish.

Men’s novice champion

Congratulations to Peter Quartermaine, who has won the club’s men’s novice singles for 2022.  Mike Greene was the runner-up.

Ladies’ novice champion

Congratulations to Maria Aranda, who won the ladies’ novice singles title on Friday, March 25.

Ladies’ singles champion

Congratulations to Cheryl Smith, who played a tremendous game to beat Anne Banks in an exciting ladies’ singles championship on Wednesday, March 16.

Men’s pairs winners

Congratulations to Howard Richardson and Peter Quartermaine on winning the 2022 Men’s Pairs Championship on Friday, February 25. They beat Harry Booth and Alan McGill 25 – 6 in the final. Howard and Peter have only taken up bowls in the last 12 months and the club congratulates them on their achievement.

Congratulations to Libby Cook and first-year bowler Lynda Greene on winning the ladies’ pairs event on Friday, March 11. Picture here. They defeated Jana Fuller and Glenys Butterfield. Anne Banks and Angela Dane took out the plate against Dot Melkus and Ursula Byatt.

Mixed pairs winners

Congratulations to Dee and Tom Maras for their victory in the mixed pairs event.

Men’s triples winners

Congratulations to Jamie Coughlan, Terry Norrish and Norm MacLean who beat Geoff Pinkus, Greg Samson and Mike Greene in the triples final on Friday, December 10. The plate was won by Lee O’Brien, Allan McGill and Bob Harrison, who defeated Arthur Peters, Howard Richardson and Peter Quartermaine. Picture gallery

Mixed fours winners

Congratulations to the team of Geoff Pinkus, Sue Lowe, Reg Lowe and Alison Wakeham who successfully defended their title on Friday night, November 12. Again, it was a close-fought match against former champions John Bryant, Arthur Peters, Margaret Kermode and Pat Gilbert.
