Celebrate Australia Day
The club is celebrating Australia Day on Saturday, January 25, with a ladies v men competition. It will be a fun day for all bowlers and costs $10 a head. The best Aussie outfit will win a prize and a sausage sizzle will follow the game. It’s 12.30pm for a 1pm start. Put your name on the sheet at the club or contact Mark on 0417 910 483.

Mt Pleasant has a number of teams playing men’s pennant bowls during the season – both Midweek (Thursdays) and Saturdays.

Mixed pairs stars
Congratulations to Tom and Dee Maras, who won the mixed pairs championships in a close contest with Geoff Pinkus and Sally Thomson. Pat and John won the plate from runners-up Pat and Nancy.
Ladies’ gala day
The Mt Pleasant ladies hosted another of their wonderful Christmas gala days on Friday, December 6. The day, sponsored by Mode Realty, went off without a hitch, thanks to all the hard-working volunteers. Well done to everyone involved.
Four score an eight
Congratulations to Michelle Farmer, Cathy Paxton, Lisa Nelson and Angela Dane who got an eight on Saturday, November 9, in their big win over Como in Division 3 Pink. Well done, ladies.
Mixed fours
Congratulations to Ethan Carruthers, Marg Kermode and Paul and Marianne Nelligan for winning the club’s 2024 mixed fours event.
Women’s fours
Congratulations to Lisa Brannan, Coralie Biddiscombe, Marianne Nelligan and Mary Thomas for winning the club’s 2024 women’s fours event.

Conservation of greens
Bowlers having practice roll-up sessions are encouraged to come along to the club but are asked to please conduct their roll-up sessions on the rink boundary marks rather than on the rink numbers. It will help preserve the playing condition of the greens.

Club events and winter bowls
Tuesday popstick draws happen all year round – 12.30pm for a 1pm start.
Wednesday scroungers offer a great opportunity for both beginners and experienced players to enjoy bowls in a fun and social setting. Club bowls can be provided on the day and free coaching is also available. Please arrive by 3pm for a 3.30pm start. For any enquiries, contact Trevor Williams on 0419 091 623.
Thursday and Saturday bankers are played all year round, 12.30pm for a 1pm start.
Thursdays and Saturdays after the pennants season feature nominated triples events. Get your team and pay up before 12.30pm for a 1pm start.
Dress: Mufti for all popstick, scroungers, bankers and winter games.

Congratulations Gail and John
Gail Worley and John Mueller were named the club’s champion ladies and men’s bowlers at the annual presentation of trophies and awards on Saturday night, April 27.
The night celebrated all the club’s championship winners plus all the teams that competed in the pennants season with great success.
Club championships
Ladies’ club champion – Gail Worley.
Men’s club champion – John Mueller.
Women’s singles – Susan Allen defeated Gail Worley.
Men’s singles – John Mueller defeated Brian Thornton.
Pairs – Howard Richardson and Greg Samson combined to win the men’s pairs, while Gail Worley and Mary Thomas won the ladies’ pairs.
Mixed pairs – Congratulations to Michelle Farmer and Terry Ridley who won this event in a thriller over Pandora Court and Bernie Tattersall.
Triples – Lisa Brannan, Mary Thomas and Cathy Paxton combined to take out the ladies’ triples, while Ken Shipman, Geoff Thorn and Kevin Swan won the men’s triples.
Mixed fours- Margaret Kermode, Brian Thornton, Dee Maras and Trevor Williams were the winners of the mixed fours.
